What are Homonyms, Homophones, and Homographs?

I remember learning about homonyms and homophones when I was in grade school. I’ll be honest…I remembered them as being the same things. Turns out that is not necessarily ALWAYS the case. 🙂

HOMONYM: Words that have the same name, both sound the same, and are spelled the same.

EXAMPLES: BAT – used to hit a ball/a nocturnal flying mammal; BOOK – something to read/making an appointment

Do You Need a Proofreader?
